You've come to the right town. Estes Park is a great place for active adventures. If you're like me, you don't like sitting around or shop all that much. Here is a list of things I think are fun and adventurous in the Estes Park area:
Rocky Mountain National Park is a huge draw. Hikes here range from extremely easy to difficult. There's something for everyone . The amazing views, waterfalls, and abundant wildlife make it a must do if you're in the area. Stop by our shop or the Mountain Shop for trail suggestions. You can also take a drive up Trail Ridge Road or Old Fall River Road and end up at over 12,500 feet. Stop in at the Alpine Visitor center while you're at it. I'd plan a full day at least for RMNP. If you're interested in a guided hike, check these guys out Rocky Mountain Day Hikes.
Mustang Mountain Coaster is an awesome self propelled roller coaster on the side of a mountain. It's a heck of a good time.
Estes Park Bike Path. Whether you do an Ebike Rental from Backbone Adventures or a regular pedal bike from the Mountain Shop, you're gonna love the bike paths we have here. You'll often see wildlife along the way and the views are amazing.
Horseback Rides are a popular activity. I would suggest companies that guide into Rocky Mountain National Park. SK Horses, Jackson Stables, and Glacier Creek Stables.
Fly Fishing in the Big Thompson River is some of the best in the country. You don't need experience or gear. Kirk's Flyshop can set you up and guide you.
Mini Golf and Go-Karts are fun family activities. Check out Cascade Creek or Fun City. They also have arcade games, bumper boats, and other activities at both places.
Estes Park Marina is run by the city of Estes Park. They have pontoon boat and non-powered boat rentals. There's nothing better than a mountain lake.
ATV or Jeep Rentals are a big draw in the area. You have two options: Guided or Unguided. For guided rides where you sit in the back seat, check out Green Jeep Tours or Wildside. For unguided rides where you're in control and on your own, check out Backbone Adventures and the ATV Rental and Jeep Rental pages.
