In 2022 Backbone Adventures will offer guided ebike tours in Estes Park and inside Rocky Mountain national Park.
As a middle aged man who's spent his entire life riding dirt bikes, ATV's, and Jeeps, I have to say, I wasn't sure about ebikes rentals and especially guided tours. I've never been one for guided anything.
However, in 2020 my wife and I rented some ebikes and really enjoyed it. I was so surprised. It actually took her an hour to talk me into it. I loved it. I loved it so much, I high tailed it back to my business and bought a fleet of higher quality ebikes to rent.
I spent the summer of 2021 riding cruiser ebikes around Lake Estes and electric mountain bikes on dirt roads and single track around the area. In truth, I damn near sold my dirt bike. I was having so much fun. No, I'm not dumping my dirt bike, but there is something extra special about riding an ebike in the mountains. It's hard to describe it to people like me who have no experience on an ebike in the back country, but I'll try:
There is a sense of oneness with the nature around you as you cruise through the mountains on a bike. That may sound corny. If someone had said that to me a year ago, I would have told them to go back to Boulder and buy a granola bar. I'm telling you though, there is something to this. If you haven't done it, you need to try. It's not just the connection with nature, it's just plain fun!
I've broken 17 bones in my body riding dirt bikes. I have a bum knee that refuses to heal from an accident years ago. The class 2 ebike gives me the opportunity to do this sport. I can't ride a normal mountain bike on trails with my knee the way it is.
In the summer of 2021, Mark, my main ebike guy proposed the idea of doing guided ebike tours. I'll admit, I wasn't very interested. I agreed to go on a ride with him. I was thinking if I could enjoy this, everyone can. I am NOT someone who enjoys anything guided. Afterward, I changed my tune right quick. I was sold 100%.
The guided ride through Rocky Mountain National park on Old Fall River Road will be epic for sure. The beauty, views, wildlife, and experience will surely be something you'll never forget. Mark took all of us at the shop on this ride in the fall. Half the staff actually had to be forced to do it. There wasn't much interest. It's a bike for crying out loud. We're used to ripping around in Razors. After the ride though, everyone was asking how soon we were going to do it again and everyone was nuts for ebikes.
The guided tour on private single track will be a very special. From the moment you leave our shop, headed for the trails, you're in for one heck of an experience no matter what your skill level is. Don't worry, nobody gets left behind and no experienced rider has to slow up. We have everyone covered.
