JEEP TRAILS IN ESTES PARK
Storm Mountain Trail
See the Jeep Trails page for pictures and details of the trails in and around Estes Park Colorado.
Keep in mind, when you rent a Jeep from Backbone Adventures, it's yours for the day. You can take it anywhere you like.
Our personal favorites:
Estes Loop (Pole Hill, Johnny Park, and Pierson Park)
This picture shows the difficult section of Pierson Park (which isn't actually all that difficult). It is much steeper than it looks in this picture. This is a great trail with a beautiful meadow and popular moose hang out near the end.
In all honesty, this is my favorite trail. It has some amazing views and if you want steep rocky climbs you have that option, but it's not required in order to get through the trail system. Plus, it's not an out and back style trail. You start on one end near the town of Ward and come out near the town of Nederland and another whole trail system called Gordan Gulch. It's a great day of exploring on this trail system.
Part of the Estes Loop, Johnny Park is really fun. It's usually a favorite for our guests.
Part of the Estes Loop. Pole Hill is short but packs a big punch with great views. The first half mile is a little difficult, but the rest is easy and really fun.
It's important to us that Backbone Adventures provide as many realistic pictures and details about all the trails in the area. Too often Jeep and ATV rental companies post stock pictures from manufacturer websites which don't represent the actual trails you'll be on. Keep in mind though, pictures don't do these trails and the views justice. If it looks rocky in the picture, it's more rocky in person. If it looks like a great view, it's even more spectacular when your there. The possibility of wildlife is one of the most common questions we get asked. Wildlife is hit and miss. I've seen people get stumped all day and I've also seen people run across deer, elk, moose, and bear all in a few hours. Keep your eyes open, most of the time they hear you coming and run off before you see them, that or they're hiding a tight section of trees.
